Increasing traffic to your website is not a difficult task that requires a lot of expertise. With a good imagination you can achieve this task easily, via simple additions such as surveys, games, greeting cards, e-books and newsletters.
There are so many ways to increase traffic to your site. There isn’t any rocket science behind doing so, and all it takes is the ability to let your imagination run wild. Just to get you started, here are some ideas:
1. Surveys
Surveys are a great way to get information from your visitors and to increase traffic to your website by increasing page views. For example, if you have a survey on your site which has 15 questions, then for every person who completes the survey, you get 15 page views. However, make sure that your surveys are interesting so that people are motivated to fill them out.
2. Games & Quizzes
Games and quizzes are a great way to retain your regular visitors. I’d recommend that you choose a game which requires the person to load a new page every time they take their turn. Get some quizzes which are on subjects that your visitors will be interested in e.g. movies.
3. Sticky Content
Things of common interest, information that undergoes change regularly, all fall under the category of ‘sticky content’. Having lots of sticky content on your site encourages people to visit your site regularly, bookmark it, or even get their friends and relatives to visit the site, which can be a great source of increasing traffic.
4. Post cards, greeting cards and e-cards
You can have different types of cards for different occasions e.g. birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Since most people would like to put their own personal message on the card, make sure you provide such a facility.
5. Discussion Board
Hosting a discussion board is an extremely great way to increase traffic, as it encourages people to visit your site, participate in discussions and meet new people. There are a whole load of board scripts available, some free and some not-free!
6. E-Books
You can create an e-book, fill it up with a lot of useful and interesting information, and distribute it via your site. Make sure you put a link to your site on every page so that the readers of the e-book will come back and visit your site regularly.
7. E-mail newsletters
E-mail newsletters (also known as ‘ezines’) are a great way of promoting your site. Basically, you gather up information such as news and updates to your site and products, put it all in an e-mail, and send it to all the people that have subscribed to your newsletters. A link back to your site will make sure that people will visit your site again. If you put in some very interesting and entertaining articles, your subscribers will send it to other people, which will further increase traffic.
