Aromatherapy Uses for Healing and Stress Relief

Health/Nutrition Do Not Miss Out On Great Stress Relief Techniques

The alternative medicine known as aromatherapy has grown in leaps and bounds over the past several years. One main reason for this is that people are turning to more natural approaches to every aspect of their lives, from healing their bodies, to purposes of relaxation to even how they clean their homes. And in these days, who doesn't welcome the opportunity for stress relief?

Like many things, aromatherapy got its start purely by accident. A man in France accidentally burnt himself. He grabbed the nearest thing he saw, which was some lavender oil. The oil immediately begin to give him relief. He was even more astonished to find that the burn did not leave a scar on his arm. Thus, he quickly came to the conclusion that the essential oil of lavender had healing capabilities.

Aromatherapy is based on the usage of essential oils, which comes from plants. The scent of these oils themselves is what is credited for their healing and relaxing powers. For instance, the scent of lavender is known to help relax a person enough to help stop a headache, help one to sleep and even help calm fluttering nerves. Lavender, like many of the other oils, can be used in a number of ways such as applying to one's body (gently rub a few drops onto the forehead for a headache), can be burned to produce an aroma, can be used to make incense and can even be inhaled (place a few drops on your pillowcase to help you sleep).

A person should choose aromatherapy oil not just by the smell alone. The person should think about their reason for wanting or needing oil (what is needed to be accomplished). If they have a particular problem or need than they need to do further research and decide which oil is the best for them.

Many people also like to diffuse a number of essential oils together to create their own unique blend. Diffusing oils that come from plants of a like family will create a unique and balanced blend. These blends can then help a number of health related issues or just be a special unique oil for the user to burn or apply.

Each aromatherapy oil has its own unique healing and relaxation power. Yet, many can share some abilities. When this is the case, the user can then choose from the oils that have the same needed ability by which scent is more appealing to him or her. An instance of this would be the oils of Chamomile, Sandalwood, and Ylang Ylang. All three of these are known to help promote sleep. Yet, each has their own distinctive smell.

Aromatherapy seems to help the body by creating an even flow between the spirit, mind, and body. These oils used also seem to help alter moods and relax one's entire being. When one is in a more relaxed state, healing can begin more quickly.

Many people also associate aromatherapy and some essential oils such as Jasmine and Sandalwood as being oils that can help stimulate romance. There is no concrete evidence of this fact. Yet, many people do admit that lit candles do set a distinct mood for them for romance. Plus, many colognes and perfumes not only makes one smell more distinctive, they can make one feel sexier when worn.

As the days goes by, it doesn't seem foreseeable that aromatherapy will be phasing out any time soon. In fact, studies of these essential oils are continuing and more uses for these unique oils are being found every day.
