So you are wondering what it will take to learn how to survive prison. Well if you have a few months before your actual conviction and sentencing there are quiet a few things you can do to prepare mentally and physically for the time you will be facing. I have done prison time myself and can show you real working examples on how to survive prison, and most importantly how to prepare for the time ahead that waits for you.
How to survive prison #1 - If you have time before your sentencing and conviction I highly recommend you start a workout and exercise program. You want to be in as good of shape as humanly possible before you go to jail. Sign up at a gym, take some martial arts classes, and do a lot of cardio. If you are small or weaker build up more muscle. Be sure to burn off any excess fat you have and lift weights to get leaner quicker with cardio exercise. Do things like riding a bike, jogging, hitting a punching bag, walking, using the stair climber machine etc.
How to survive prison #2 - Before you have to do your time talk to your friends and family members about writing you, and visiting. You will want to give your friends and loved ones the address to the prison so they can write you letters. You will also want to save money, get a prison job, and have family members put money into your prison account. I suggest you save $500 for prison. It will help you adjust better by using the canteen and having spending money. Getting into debt in prison is one of the worst things you can do, so be sure you have money.
How to survive prison #3 - You will be going a long time with out any sexual contact with women. I highly suggest, before you go that you rebuild relationships with ex girlfriends and try to establish bonds with females. You will obviously want to get some sex before you get locked up, but most importantly you are going to want to have a female voice in your life, whether it be on the phone or in letters. Having one or two good women you know that truly care about you while you live behind bars can either make or break you. Try to re-kindle relationships with previous female lovers and get phone numbers and addresses!
How to survive prison #4 - Family and friends are the biggest factors of all. Be sure you have a person you can rely on while you do your time. If you have a mother, brother, sister or dad who will send you money and answer your phone calls great! If you have a wife, girlfriend or child on the outside, be sure you can rely on them to deposit money into your account, and give you the mental and spiritual freedom you will need thru phone calls an d letters.
