Certified Tummy Tuck Surgeons

Categories
Health/Nutrition Tummy Tucks

Abdominoplasty, or better known as a tummy tuck, is a cosmetic surgery. Dont let the cosmetic surgery tag fool you because although being cosmetic in nature, the tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure. As such, ensuring that you are in prime health is a must to avoid complications during and after surgery. Consult with your family doctor on your health and speak with family and friends about the procedure. Get online on the internet and join forums and read about experiences of former tummy tuck patients.

One thing that you must also do is to consult with the actual tummy tuck surgeon. Be honest and voice out any expectations that you might have with regards to the tummy tuck surgery. The surgeon would be able to tell you what you will go through and be able to manage your expectations to a more realistic level. The tummy tuck surgeon would also be able to advice you whether a tummy tuck is what you really need. The surgeon could also conclude that you might only need a mini tummy tuck instead of a full blown one. This will reduce your recover time a lot.

When choosing a surgeon, accreditation would be the first thing that one looks for. The surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery as this will ensure that the surgeon would have met strict requirements set by the Board. These surgeons would have gone through a recognized medical school and be awarded a license to practice in their respective states. They would also have gone through three years of training in general surgery in residency that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Then the surgeon must have successfully completed a minimum of two years in a plastic surgery training program acknowledged by the ACGME. On top of all that, the surgeon would continue to practice for six months where reports are made and pre and post operative photos are submitted to be approved by a panel of certified plastic surgeons. Only by passing a comprehensive oral and written examination would the surgeon them be certified by the Board.

With all the proper recognition in place, the surgeon would be qualified to perform your tummy tuck. It is then a matter of preference as to which surgeon suits your best on terms of interaction and level of trust.
