How dedicated a golfer are you?

Categories

Today there are a multitude of things that seem to need doing instead of playing golf. So where are you going to find the time for you golf game? Another question could be the answer, how can you still get to play golf when your time is seemingly all taken up to the degree you have not got enough time for a round of golf? How about playing in less time than usual and still having the pleasure of the great game of golf?

Well here are a few suggestions to enable you to still play golf and in a reduced time than usual and: play a round with time in mind and not score, no need to play with less dedication or skill, play the first nine or the back nine, just half a round but still time playing golf. The prospect of playing golf without aiming for the perfect round may be a small sacrifice to be made in order to get a game at all.

Take a golf cart onto the course and cut down walking time between holes. Take the clubs you will need out of your golf bag and leave the bag on the cart, this will save a lot of time by the end of the round of golf. Try and focus on your game only, you may find by not allowing your mind to wander or taking a nice walk through the country, all little things that could cut the time needed for enjoying your golf hobby and sport.

Positive play will pay dividends whether playing against the clock, time is money etc. When you are ready to play a shot then play it, do not bother with an extra waggle, get on with it, this may well help if you suffer with the putting yips also. This is not rocket science; it is just a few proven tips to help you manage your time for playing golf.

Play your driving shots as normal, try not to think about the fact you are looking to play a quick game, if you launch your ball out of bounds, then just take another ball and drive again, you are after all just covering your game by treating the first ball as a provisional and a one-stroke penalty. If you find that the first ball was in bounds when you walk down to where it landed, you can choose to play that ball.

When you take your shots, keep your eye on the ball and see where it lands, instead of wasting time looking for it in the general direction you played it. Be prepared to allow the occasional dropped ball if you land in the rough, it will be worth dropping a stroke or two for the sake of getting to play at all, if your ball lands in an unplayable position to play your quick game then refer to Rule 28, take a one-stroke penalty, and drop the ball as close as possible to the spot from which you last played.

Should you be unfortunate enough to land in a water hazard, the refer to Rule 26, which states that you can take a one-stroke penalty after hitting into the water and take a drop right where your ball crossed the water. This will get you closer to the hole and make it easier to get over the water.

Remember we are looking at playing the game quickly and not trying to beat our own par and perfect round. You may wish to take a score card with you, if that is the case then try and leave writing the previous holes score until you get to the next tee box, or don't bother writing the score; after all we are looking at ways of cutting time on the course in order to find time to play.

So we now have a few tips for speeding up your golf game and playing within the rules of golf structure. You could find other ways of saving time on your golf round, just try it and see if it works for you; it is you at the end of the day that needs your regular golf session!
