For Women-How To Choose A Costume

How to Choose a Costume For Women

For adults, Halloween had a tendency to be more of a challenge in costume hunting than a celebration filled with treats and creativity. If you can get passed this seemingly minor obstacle you will be well on the way to pretending you are having a carefree night. For the most part, women are going to have a tougher time trying to pin down the right costume. For once, though, it is for good reason--there are literally thousands of options available for women of all personalities, shapes, and sizes. That said, a majority of ladies' costume options wind up falling into one of two categories--sexy costumes and everything else.

Of course there are the customary Halloween costume ideas such as a black cat, a ghost, a witch, etc. These are probably your front-runner for the more traditional Halloween partier. Nearly any costume idea can be adapted to have a sexier look or you can play it down, and stay modest. Plus size costumes are available in almost all styles now. The most important thing to remember is to select a costume that you're comfortable and relaxed in, both mentally and physically. It can be hard to pull your look off if you aren't good in your halloween costume.

I for one, have noticed that the sexy category has grown a lot in the last few years, and that means that costume options are more diverse and varied. It's not only a choice between a sexy maid or sexy female police officer (although these are still fun choices). Sexy costumes have expanded to include popular culture. As a result of TV shows like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', ladies can have a specific strong and sexy figure in mind on Halloween. After all, it's, the one and only night in a year when a customarily professional and demure woman can cut loose a little in public.

On the other end of things; in the not necessarily sexy section, there is also an assortment of choices. TV and movies still can be an inspiration. Classic shows like 'I Love Lucy' and 'I Dream of Jeanie' offer excellent women characters to dress up as. Costumes from a specific period are also great choices. a costume inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress or even a complicated Renaissance era costume can be great fun.The 1950s is another great time period. Think ponytails, poodle skirts and saddle shoes. Most of all, try to match your individuality to your costume. Nothing completes costumes better than your own acting.

When you have finally selected your costume, don't forget to accessorize with matching bag, jewelry, wig, make-up, feather duster -- anything that is is appropriate for your costume. It can't be emphasized enough the impact can have on a woman's costume. With all your finishing touches in place, head off to your party prepared to amaze other guests at the party. Have a good time this Halloween and live one of your fantasies. Really, that is what the holiday is all about.
